Groentjie, the junior version of the environmental series Groen, consisted  of 52 fun-filled episodes (broadcast during 2007-08) aimed at the 7-12 year old viewers of kykNET. Three friends joined the clever but absent-minded professor Oempie (Dave Pepler) on a journey of discovery exploring the wonders of nature. They were joined by Chi-Chi the WWF panda, Snuffels the SANparks mongoose, as well as Trix the cat and Wagter the dog
